We Have Cruelty Free Hair Products Perth

We Have Cruelty Free Hair Products Perth

We Have Cruelty Free Hair Products Perth

I’m a “if it’s not broke don’t fix it” kinda girl, I haven’t introduced an entire new product range into my salon in 5 years, my team are trained to never book new sales reps in with me. Yeah i probably sound like an A-Hole but i like what i like.

Needless to say i was pretty peeved when the new apprentice unknowingly booked the Kevin Murphy rep in with me. I resisted the urge to cancel and set about politely smiling, nodding and spending the next 6 months dodging her calls.

I listened, i examined the packaging and because I’m polite i sniffed the products. And that’s when they got me, “this sh!t smells AMAZING!” Sparks flew, i was in.

With my curiosity engaged i started actually listening & here’s what i learnt about Kevin Murphy hair products which is actually pretty cool:

  • the ingredients are all AUSTRALIAN
  • the packaging is made from RECYCLED MATERIALS
  • ALL the products are PETA approved, cruelty free
  • KM provides extensive training and education to all stockists not only in product knowledge but styling too.

So instead of tossing my free samples on the “free sample heap” i took them home and did something i never do, i tried something new (gasp) & so the Kevin Murphy love affair begins.

So for those of you who like the “tech talk”, here’s what Kevin Murphy has to say about Kevin Murphy:

“When searching the world for our ingredients, KEVIN MURPHY looked for companies that use micro cultivation, organic growing practices, or ecologically sound wild harvesting techniques to ensure the KM range is of the very highest natural quality. Vitamins & amino acids repair the outer surface of the hair, thickening the hair and reducing the formation of split ends. Moisturisers from Mango Butter and Murumuru butter smooth the cuticles and soften the hair. Extracts from the Peruvian Bark Baobab, Bamboo and Orange Blossom infuse the hair with weightless moisture. Antioxidants from Kakadu Plum, Orchid, Lotus Flower and Desert Lime reduce breakage and repair chemical damage naturally. All KM hair products are sulphate free, paraben free and cruelty free.”

How to stop your hair colour fading

How to stop your hair colour fading

Pink, purple, blue & grey. Crazy colours are still the trend & we’ve been working our little butts off trying to meet the unrealistic standards of photo shopped hair snaps. #nofilter #liarliar #thestruggleisreal.

Whaaaattttttt? Hair pics get photo shopped? YES they do. A LOT. And as i’ve said before it’s a hairdressers worst nightmare. So here is an image by us, not photo shopped and because i’m feeling generous, i’m going to tell you our secret, but first………

How to stop your hair colour fading

The problem with these crazy colours is:

a. Getting them to stick.

b. Getting them to last.

c. Making them look like the photo shopped colour in your Pinterest reference photo.

Why?

Because 98.6% of the time the hair has to be blonde, usually white blonde, to get these colours to look any good & for  95.8% of you this means bleaching the bageebies out of your hair.

This might come as a shock to you all but bleach blonde hair lacks a little life, it has no colour pigment what so ever & very little left for soft pastel tones to grab onto. Hence they wash out very quickly.

Tired of your salon colour fading? I have the secret:

The past year has seen a flood of pretty pastels and sexy silver hair products into the market from every brand in existence. In efforts to keep up with the fun colour trend i’m certain we’ve tried them all, trying to find the “winning formula” to make the fun colours last

And here is what we’ve discovered, our dirty secret to stop your salon colours fading:

EVO Fabuloso colour conditioner:
  • We personally mix each individual conditioner to match YOUR colour.
  • Tops up your colour in between salon visits.
  • You take it home and use it in replacement of your usual conditioner.
  • Leave on for 5-20mins.
  • Comes in both volume & repair options.
  • Retails for approx $39.95
  • Amazing for purples, pinks, blues, greens and all fashion colours.

Tired of your salon colour fading? I have the secret

This is seriously the best product EVER, i’m not even kidding and an absolute must have if you want to prevent your salon colour you paid the big bucks for from fading out so quick.

And in case your not convinced, i’ll leave you with another non photo shopped pic where we used a grey EVO Fabuloso conditioner to colour these blonde extensions.

UN-hottest Hair Trend Right Now

June 13, 2016

How ironic was it that the balayage hair trend became such a huge sensation for its low maintenance appeal yet it has been the biggest influence in hair salon growth since the inception of the “posh bob” aka “the pob”?

It’s the “natural” look hair trend that’s been everything but that.

I admit i’ve really enjoyed the surge of hair trends since the original balayage came about. Ombre, layage, baby lights; all wonderful variations of exactly the same thing.

But which one to choose? What is the

Hottest Hair Trend Right Now?

Well they all are. As i said they are all subtle variations of exactly the same thing.

However the trend right now is a more subtle colour blend when achieving these looks, so here is my tips to getting it “right” like i did in this latest #winning creation.

Hottest Hair Trend Right Now

  1. Blending your colours is key, foils are a great way to ensure your balayage blends
  2. Complimentary colours are a must, ash blonde ends on a warm base ain’t gonna look right
  3. Be gentle, the ends of your hair are the most fragile so lightening them up needs to appraoched with caution or you’ll have no hair left to balayage

What Happened When I Coloured My Hair Pink

February 26, 2016

What Happened When I Coloured My Hair Pink

About 12 months ago I wrote a blog post bagging out people who haven’t changed their hair for 10 years straight.

It forced me to take a long hard look at myself as I realised shortly after, that was me. I’d had the same blonde locks forever now, it was time to change. Dying my hair pink seemed the obvious choice.

Me; with blonde hair

After flirting on and off with pink hair for the past 12 months I noticed something really strange happening. People were treating me differently when my hair was pink. When I shared this observation with my husband he informed me “maybe it’s because they feel sorry for you.”

That’s not it.

Another thing happened about 12 months ago, I discovered the phrase resting bitch face. But we’ll get back to that.

So how was I being treated differently? Well people were much nicer to me when my hair was pink. Mums at school approached me more, people at the gym stopped to chat to me, strangers stopped to compliment. And it led me to wonder?

Do I have resting bitch face? Does the pink hair soften me in some way? Do I look like a friendlier person? Why didn’t I look friendly before? I always considered myself a pretty approachable person, but clearly I was not.

What is resting bitch face? Glad you asked. My understanding is that it is a term used to describe someone that looks like a bitch when they are just going about their business, relaxed and expressionless.

So basically all of this reinforces three things-

  1. Having pink hair makes you awesome.
  2. If you haven’t changed your hair for 10 years you def should.
  3. Don’t judge a person if the don’t look too friendly, it could just be resting bitch face.

So once again i marvel at the power of the hair do. And i would love to hear the experiences you guys have had when you’ve taken the leap and made a big change to your looks?
